Lynds Dark Nebula (LDN) 949 is a dark nebula silhouetted against hydrogen-alpha nebulosity in the constellation Cygnus. This region is just a bit north of The North America Nebula, NGC 7000. LDN 949 is an elongated, wispy dark nebula that starts to the right of the top center of the image and continues down to a dark globule just below and left of center. The dark globule is often misidentified as LDN 951, which is actually not even in this frame. Several smaller dark nebulae are visible in the image including LDN 952 just below and slightly to the right of center, LDN 946 in the upper right corner, and LDN 947 in the lower right corner.
